The whole concept of Amazon ads was something I was overwhelmed by and then I found his course. YES, it was FREE. I could do it at my own pace and I have to say that it was so easy to follow that I found myself setting up a couple of ad campaigns based on Dave's advice in the course. I tweak my keywords every few months. I'm amazed - and incredibly thankful - that Dave offers this course free.

When i was checking how it was doing, and yes i may have checked it a bit too soon, it said the ads were not performing, and for some reason my book was pending in review. Using broad matching keywords leads to many irrelevant impressions/clicks. Unless you want to do some research first and aren't worried about losing some money, start with phrase matching. You'll get less impressions/clicks, but they will be more relevant, which is what you want. Using broad matching with the example given, "Fantasy With Coming Of Age Hero", you'd also get matches for "Fantasy", "Coming Of Age", and "Hero", and even results that are related to these. There are THOUSANDS of matches for these keywords, many of which to not relate to "Fantasy With Coming Of Age Hero". Using phrase matching narrows the matching results in order to maintain relevancy.

Thank you for this video. I have tried so many different combinations of ads and although they work, my spend is too high for it to be worth it. I create coloring books for kids and adults, etc. I have two questions: 1. Should I only run 1 book at a time or group similar books together? 2. Doesn’t using product ads cause potential customers to buy my competitions book instead of mine?

Why Some Signups Don't Convert Dear Dave, Another great video thank you. I did sign up for your course. I don't plan to watch it because 1. It is very long 2. I must watch it online, possibly at very specific times 3. I don't plan to do broad or deep ad campaigns 4. I don't do low or medium content so niching isn't possible or necessary. I don't know whether you should or should not put your free course on youtube, from the perspective of conversion. Alternatively, you might consider extracting short form content from your giant course, I would watch 30-60 second ads but not 6 hour courses on ad. Thank you, Eric

Dave, I love your stuff, I really do. You guys have taught me a lot, along with David Gaughran, and I have/use "Rocket, which is a game changer. But Having followed and implemented several Amazon ads courses got over 1,000,000 impressions/thousands of click-throughs, and spent quite a lot of £££'s on ads; I can honestly say, that in my experience, AMS ads really only produce sales if you already have a few series books with very good ABSRs. E.g. books that are already selling really well with ABSRs at 1000 or below. They just haemorrhage money on books ranked between 30,000 and above, as I found out to my dismay, no matter what I tried, tested, changed etc! Targeting best-selling like-for-like "INDIE/SMALL PRESS" authors also cost a fortune ( like £1 or more a click-through in the UK ). Sadly targeting, cheaper clicks for comparable authors in one's genre, also proved to be utterly useless as well. Readers a very fickle and are sceptical about trying new authors, unless the price is like 99p, 99c or free, and you just can't do that as the click-throughs are too expensive, making the ads huge cash drainers! Maybe they work on a higher priced series, but the only authors I've seen make a success of AMS are the ones with very "BIG budgets," literally $2k to $5k a month budgets! Keep up the great work fella.

Regarding Broad keywords; If you end up with irrelevant keywords that don't get clicks, wouldn't this cause Amazon to show your book less often, figuring that people must not be attracted to it?

Hi Dave. I want to register my utmost disappointment at the publisher rocket support team and the system generally. I received an update prompt on the 9th of July which I updated my rocket and ever since then I have been unable to use my rocket. Anytime I enter my email or licence key, my keyword search button and every other button refuse to work or even open. I've sent countless mails to support team and they are not even responding. I spend $97 to subscribe to rocket and I'm being locked out of my account barely two months of purchase. What is more annoying is that support team is not responding to my mails for over a week now!!! How does this happen? I am so disappointed with the system and I need my account reinstated immediately. My experience with rocket is VERY POOR AND I'M DISAPPOINTED

Hi Dave, I've had Publisher Rocket for many many years now. It's truly useful, and I always recommend it to every KDP Author. Great video and info as well. I've noticed that you've added ASINs to the keywords search @ 3:48 -- does this work? I thought it only searched for keywords, and if you wanted to add ASINs, you'd have to create a product-based ad rather than keyword-based. Could you clarify this? Thank you!
